Bottle this feeling
The clocks went back in Europe this weekend, and in the US a few weeks ago.
Did it cause some minor discombobulation in your life on Sunday?
Household routine a struggle on Monday morning?
If so, bottle that feeling.
Because this is what it feels like when even a tiny change is made in your life by others.
The fact you got a little thrown in your schedule, or had a grumble about the car or oven clock, doesn’t mean you hate change or resist new things.
In a few days you’re over it and it’s the new normal.
It’s the same when you announce changes or launch new things in your agency.
Founders often hope for excitement and cheering, and get a bit disheartened by a muted or grumbly response.
But remember back to this feeling you bottled.
Minor discombobulation is pretty standard, and it doesn’t mean people resist change or hate new things.
Change rarely happens with celebration, it happens with “Oh F**k I suppose I’ll have to change the oven clock now”.
But it soon becomes the new normal — and what matters is that your agency evolves, not that each change gets cheered.
