Doing the place up
Last week I spotted neighbours were having their house done up.
For years the it’s been a bit run down — but after double glazing, a kitchen refit, and a fresh coat of paint everywhere, it’s suddenly looking like new.
My first thought was “Ah, they must be planning to sell.”
Selling forces us to take a look at how buyers might see it, so we make all the changes we didn’t bother to make before.
Sprucing the place up, making it nicer to live in.
I see many agency founders doing the same thing. Living for years in a business that’s held together with gaffer tape and stress — until they decide to sell, when they spend a year or two putting in a good top team, processes, launching marketing campaigns, improving profitability, and so on.
Yet imagine how much better our lives would be if we improved our agencies now, while we still live in them?
This week, notice what you’re putting up with around your agency that needs sprucing up. Make a list, and start fixing it.
Fixing it for you to enjoy, rather than someone else.
